Garbage Truck 'OBSESSION'

The garbage truck is a love-hate relationship for Roman. He used to love watching the garbage truck from the window or the porch. A few months ago I made the mistake of saying something to the effect that the garbage truck was going to 'ruin the road because it was dripping sludge'. Since then, when it comes around he freaks out, screams like a girl, and says it's going to ruin the road. Not only that, but he asks me EVERYDAY at least ten times, "is it garbage day?". He is getting better and really doesn't freak too much now. We've tried to explain that it's not going to ruin the road and he's beginning to understand. Despite his fear, it doesn't stop him from playing with his own garbage truck or pretending that he is a garbage truck as in the above photo. I'm confused.

When we lived there the garbage man was not very friendly. The boys were obsessed and we'd scream and yell with excitement and run out to watch him dump the garbage in the truck. The garbage man would just look at us and he never even cracked a smile. That is funny. We'll see ya tomorrow!

elizabeth had a similar problem once. It was when she spit gum on my carpet and I got mad at her and said that now it was going to turn the carpet black. BIG MISTAKE. She completely came unglued and I spent about an hour trying to calm her down and reassure her the ENTIRE carpet wasn't going to turn black, and that it wouldn't turn her or her toys black, or her clothes, or her feet... .... ........................................... Ah, oh well, she's calmed down now.

That makes me laugh. Poor kid! It's funny how they get these ideas in their head and then obsess about it. I guess that's the cute little mind of a 3-year-old!
